    Lightbulb Microphone Maintenance!

That's PRO151 for mentioning on using brown paper bag material cut into a strip to burnish the contact points on the relays. I used a good quality contact cleaner along with his method. Works really good!

I used a little silicone grease in between the plastic end spacers.

Applied a quality piece of vinyl tape & silicone at the contact point area on this black metal bar.

Close Up of contract point of upper relay and the black metal bar.

    Talking More Pictures!

Back in the late 70's my brother & I grew up on Astatic D104 microphones. This is my second Silver Eagle. Not giving up this one. Thanks for the flowers Roadrunner. Been getting good reports all the way around. Perfect vintage addition to the set up. The mention of using brown paper bag to burnish the points worked real well without signs of tearing. I bet the other things would work too! Even though this microphone was not used much at all folks think these should work noise free from the start. Oxygen and metal contacts should be thought of. Anyways I am very satisfied of the sound. The dynamike on the 2000 is set at max and the D104 is about an 1/8 open or you could say it is cracked open. I talk 6 inches away. Works for me. I was very lucky to get this one at $130.00 since others in this condition go for a lot more. More pictures here.

The price in the right upper corner, was that the normal price for these?

The foam on the back plate was thin and breaking up due to age.
Replaced it with some denser and just a little thick foam.
Had had some sheets of the craft foam. It is about 1/16" thick.

Cool shot here, a lot of parts were engraved with numbers.
