cobra 19 help

My friend put an old cobra 19 dx iv cab in his pickup truck. It doesn't perform well so I was wondering what's a good way to wake it up. Any ideas?

Its only gonna perform as good as the antenna attached to it. Get a good antenna and set the swr properly. Open up the radio and turn the modulation pot up to max then back it off a tad and turn the modulation up.

I've never messed with the inside of a cb. Can you find a pic somewhere and edit something into the pic to point out the mod pot?

Locate VR2 pot and turn to substantially increase both modulation and TX
power swing.

VR2 is located in the upper left portion of the board layout...There are other things you can do but I wouldn't with the Cobra 19 DX...Only other thing I would do is get a good power Mic, adjust VR2 3/4 open and get a good wilson antenna.
