I built this one using #10 insulated copper that I had on hand. Total cost about $20. Right now the bottom is up about 17 feet. Gets out locally about 15 miles.

Always interesting to see the things people come up with. How do you tune it and what is your SWR ? Enjoy !

Thanks.Tuned close to flat 1:1.2 across all 40, I made a boo-boo however at first when I wired it up though. I used a solderless 4-point nut and bolt connection for the lower radials and had tied the center conductor to ground. After I corrected that, I just shortened the top radial a bit to tune. To test, I slipped the pvc mast over a piece of steel pipe supported by a 3’ round wooden cable spool set on it’s end. I could easily lift the mast out of the center hole of the spool, rest it on a step ladder, and make my adjustments.
very cool !
i built something similar 10ish years ago and it did well also . people underestimate what speaker wire and pvc can do congrats .

If you can get it up another 10-20' you will probably be able to get out triple what you do now!
When I raised my tower up from 30' to 40' it seemed like I doubled my distance I could talk and hear locally...DX was about the same, but local talked greatly improved just by adding a extra 10'...
